"As long as I can remember I’ve had a passion for learning about painting and drawing landscapes. It’s all about what I observe in nature: composing light and shadow, color, atmosphere, edges and brushwork. Currently I’m practicing plein air landscape painting to express my excitement about what I see." 
 
Robert Yelland studied painting at Oakland City College, after which he received a scholarship to The California College of the Arts where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting. His paintings have shown in numerous Bay Area galleries and museums. Robert owned and ran the Yelland Gallery in Jack London Square. For the past ten years he has been painting with artist Lynne Whiting Robertson. They are both active members of the Artists’ Cooperative of Mendocino and The California Art Club San Francisco Chapter.
