Artist's Statement:
I graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio with a major in Studio Art, then moved to Berkeley to discover what the West Coast had to offer. In the late sixties it offered up the Mendocino coast where I have made my home first at the ocean’s edge and now at the forest’s rim.

I work from my imagination, my inner vision and emotions, inspired and informed by home, garden, forest, fields, seasons, the ever-changing nature, which I explore and illuminate in oils, acrylics and mixed media collage.

Below are oil paintings inspired by the Mendocino coast. Shanti's use of color and creation of "optimistic art" continues to attract new and repeat visitors. Her card collection is the largest among our co-op members.
