About Our Collaboration: The Artists Co-op of Mendocino has collaborated with the Writers of the Mendocino Coast annually since 2012. The title Ekphrasis is a Greek word meaning “art describing other art.” This year the participants are twenty-one pairs of writers and visual artists. For eleven of them, visual artists responded to writings; for the ten, writers responded to visual art. The participants were paired randomly and anonymously with identities and titles of works withheld until the exhibitions in October. |
About this Virtual Exhibition: The exhibition content is distributed across several pages. There are 3 or 4 writer-artist pairs in each of 6 sets. Ten pairs, in Sets 1-3, feature the Artist Initiators and Writer Responders. The remaining eleven pairs, in Sets 4-6, feature the Writer Initiators and Artist Responders. Click on the Set Links in any order. This exhibition is extensive, and it is challenging to take it all at once. Return often; enjoy the time. This online exhibit is open 24/7. You can revisit last year's Ekphrasis, too; use the "Exhibitions" menu. |
NOTE: Brief comments related to specific writings or artworks add value to this exhibit. Please use the contact form at the bottom of the last "Afterword" section to submit contributions.
