Sonya Popow
Guest Artist - Clay
Sonya Popow I've had my hands in clay for more than fifty years. I was rigorously trained as a production potter, spending two years as an apprentice to Charles Counts in Appalachia, then studying with his teacher, Marguerite Wildenhain at Pond Farm Pottery in Guerneville, California. In mid life I returned to graduate school and worked on a series of monumental sculptures. I enjoy making sculpture to fire in local atmospheric kilns but continue to make medium fire (cone 6) functional pottery at my home/studio in Fort Bragg. This work is microwave and dishwasher safe. |
