Suzi Marquess Long, born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA, is an award-winning artist who developed a passion for pastels as a young girl, and returned to this early love almost 20 years ago. She moved to Mendocino and opened her own gallery in 2006, becoming an icon on the North Coast. Suzi has studied pastels with many artists of note, including Albert Handell, Margot Schulzke, Clark Mitchell, Judith Cunningham, Richard McDaniel, and Susan Ogilvie. Prior to pastels, Suzi's mural company Whimsy Walls created many fabulous theme rooms in several prominent businesses and homes throughout the San Francisco Bay area and Hawaii. Images of murals and some award-winning pastels may be seen at www.suzilong.com . Suzi is a founding member of the Mendocino EcoArtists. . This group of local artists including painters, sculptors, and photographers, who support the www.MendocinoLandTrust.org; www.Mendoparks.org; www.NoyoCenter.org;www.SalmonResotration.org; and www.RFFI.org with several shows during the year where members donate a portion of their profit to the Partner group. Another venture for this versatile artist is www.ThePortablePainter.com where Suzi meets potential artists at the location of their choosing and gives art lessons, initially geared to travel journaling, and anyone who wants some basic drawing skills. Suzi tries to record the beauty she sees in the world around her to share with people from around the world. The gifts of living near the ocean provide endless inspiration and abundant subjects to render. |
